Not very much. https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond3s. The big difference is much better ISO performance (as good as some current full frame cameras) and about £200 on the second hand price. If you don't shoot in the dark without a flash a D3 will be fine.
I used to shoot the D3 for Equestrian. Had the use of the D3S for a couple show jumping events indoors. The big takeaway for me was the D3S was about a stop better at high ISO.
