Have any 50d owners bought any of the following books? If so, what did you think of them? :thinking:
* Canon 50D: From Snapshots to Great Shots: Simple Steps to Great Photos - Jeff Revel
* Canon EOS 50D (Expanded Guide) - Andy Stansfield
* 50d Digital Field Guide - Charlotte K. Lowrie
* David Busch's Canon Eos 50d Guide to Digital SLR Photography
* Magic Lantern Guides: Canon EOS 50D - Rob Sheppard

The first one gets good reviews on Amazon but I was just wondering if any of you 50d owners out there has any first hand experience and your thoughts/preferences.

Thanks
Carolyn

I've had Charlotte K's guides for the 350, 40 and 5d2 and all been worth the cost. My 5d2 one has come with little pullout reminder cards in it too.

I have the Magic Lantern guide for the 40D and cant really fault it though it is more of an expanded oem canon user manual. It does have nice examples and clear explanations in it.

I have Canon 50D: From Snapshots to Great Shots: Simple Steps to Great Photos - Jeff Revel & 50d Digital Field Guide - Charlotte K. Lowrie. Can't really fault either, both comprehensive. Of the 2 probably 50d Digital Field Guide - Charlotte K. Lowrie is more technical regarding the camera functions & features, but either will help you get the most out of your 50D.

My copy of 50d Digital Field Guide - Charlotte K. Lowrie arrived yesterday. I had the similar guide for the 1000D and enjoyed it. Skimming through this one looks a bit better and with more techniques and tips. I was torn over this book and the snapshots to greatshots one. I might pick that up at a later date or if I can find one instore to browse first.

Personally I have "Snapshots to Great Shots" and "David Busch's Canon Eos 50d Guide to Digital SLR Photography". Of the two, I prefer David Busch's book if I was only able to have one. I find the combination though to be excellent.

Regards,
Steve

That's the two I'm veering towards but can't decide :thinking: Keep me posted how you get on with it!
