500 f8 mirror lens

Anything that isn't fussy about lens speed really. Mirror lenses aren't great though, they tend to be soft and produce very odd doughnut shaped bokeh.

Anything still or slow moving, depending on your skill, as it will be manual only - they produce a 'doughnut' image in the bokeh which some see as a feature but many see as a problem, personally I think it depends on the image.
Some months ago there was a member here who posted some cracking images he had taken with a Samsung 500mm mirror lens, so it can be done.
On the plus side they are lighter and more easily managed that a longer prime but on the downside they will generally be fixed at f8 or more so need good light.

Depending on the make they will usually come with a set of rear mounting filters. I have a 500mm f8 Centon and it comes with a standard UV, plus 2x and 4x ND filters (usually you have to have one of the filters attached).

As for use, anything that a normal 500mm lens can do although as stated it will give funny donut shaped bokeh and will usually be a bit softer than a normal lens.

Yes, thats what I have. you should have one of the filters on at all times.
