Hello i have about 5 websites i want to get onto the web,
One i pay £5/month with fasthosts, the rest are just sitting on my computer.
I don't want to pay £30 in total, is there a way to do it cheaper.
Also not really wanting to go down the freeweb hosting with the likes you type there name then yours. (ie www.web.comt/talkphotography.com)

I pay approx £5 for my website each month with Blacknight.com and have NO worries about them at all. A great set of guys!

I have a reseller package from p4host (american). Roughly £10/month and you can host as many packages as your space/bandwidth will allow.

Yeah thats probably normal to host a website, but i want to upload six in total but not pay £30/month.
The six websites are totally different ( one is the wife's business, one is mine, one is my kids, one is my photography, one is my holidays, and one is for friends.)

Cheers mate,

I am not to savvy on how the web works,
My understanding is you build a website, you pay to put it on the internet.
So for £10 i can host all my websites and they will all have there individual web addresses?

You can host a many websites as you want with 000webhost. All under one account.

I provide hosting for £5 a month for up to 10 domains.
We have a limited number of up to 50 accounts per server and each server is backed up to a remote server (a computer in another location).

I use PCSmart Hosting and have a reseller package, I think its either £40 or £50 a year for 5gb space and 100gb bandwidth

you can use the one hosting package for all 5 sites if you wish with no issues (unless its more than 5gb in size)

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

Buying a reseller package is like you are your own mini hosting company, just that you don't actually own the servers.

The way mine works is I have a control panel that I can add as many domains as I want (as long as you have purchased the URL). I specify how much webspace and bandwidth gets allocated to each site, and with a few clicks each site is generated with it's own control panel and are completely seperate. So the sites will have their own individual URL's......

www.site1.co.uk
www.site2.co.uk
etc, etc.

It may seem a little daunting at first but it's not too difficult to learn and I'm sure if you go with some of the 'bigger names' they will have plenty of tutorials or online help.

As much as I use 000webhost you have to realise that free doesn't mean great.

I use them for test sites and was umming and arring about a paid site with them and how well it would be up.

But even with paid sites it can take a while to load a page compared to my vidahost site and I've had several database connection problems.

Depending on what sites he wants hosting would effect whether I would suggest these. I'd put a personal site on there for instance, just not sure about a 'pro' site.

The only downside to all the above solutions is that they are very saturated on the servers.
Many hosting companies put hundreds if not thousands of accounts on each server.

One of those accounts has a problem that affects the server, the you all have a problem.
Happened to be too many times which is why i moved to dedicated servers etc.

Cheers guys

I am trying a couple out to see how they are.
I have a domain name i bought for the wife but she did'nt like it so i can use that for testing.

out of interest what do people go for when choosing a host?
is it mainly price or do you look for reliability and security?

Also i guess it depends if it is just a hobbyist site or a business website.

Most figures quoted for uptime and such are always the same. I'd choose a host that you have had a recommendation. Some can be a nightmare when it comes to customer services and getting things sorted.

And don't buy the domain name and hosting from the same company. Use someone like 123-reg for your name and then if you have any problems you can just change host and redirect the URL, I've heard of horror stories where they hold your domain to ransom if you try and move.

I agree, tso hosting are superb and staff helpful/rapid in their responses if you ever need help.

ineed, they responded within 10-15 mins to a support question late in the evening (10pm ish?) before.

also i requested my hosting upgraded a couple weeks back and it was done again within 10 mins (invoiced after the upgrade so done pre-payment).
