Yes
Ive been doing the same numbers for a good ten years or so, I got 5 numbers on Saturday, In the grand scheme of lottery things it wasnt a great deal of money but it was a very nice surprise for Sunday morning.
My question is, are my numbers now defunct? I mean, what are the chances of them ever winning again?

The same chances as before.
Exactly this. Every combination of numbers has exactly the same chance of winning in each draw.

The biggest worry with winning the lottery is whether there are other winners with the same numbers as this dilutes the prize.

Surely, on an individual basis the odds are the same for each number, a sequence though? Its prediction by chance, there is a greater chance that tomorrows lottery numbers wont be the sequence I used on Saturday?

Some years ago someone said (IIRC reported on the BBC) "I buy 25 tickets to increase my chances of winning......" again IIRC a statistician remarked at the time that is incorrect as each ticket has an equal chance of winning . Therefore buying more tickets does not increase your chances of winning i.e. as the odds are many, many millions to 1 of the big win....unless you buy a million tickets you have not affected the individual ticket odds!

I vaguely remember this so I googled the facts.... In 2009 the Bulgarian lottery drew the same numbers 2 weeks running.

So no, you haven't used them up.

Btw, best strategy to maximise winning is to use numbers over 31. No less likely than other numbers but so many people use dates you are less likely to share the prize.

I sometimes buy an unlucky dip , Not won anything for years.

The winner of the largest ever lottery jackpot described himself as “shocked and ecstatic” as officials revealed his identity, satisfying a law in his state, California. Edwin Castro bought the ticket that won the record-breaking $2.04bn Powerball jackpot on 8 November.15
