Thanks, I think I will go for the camera connector rather than this third party bit of gear.
As for hooking up the iPhone, don't see why not.
Check the camera connector does not mess up your SD card. I have one and used the card reader to copy photos to my iPad when travelling in India recently so I had a backup. After the first upload my Fuji X100 took ages to resume from sleep mode. I Googled around and found that, typically for them, Apple dump something on the SD card which caused the X100 to falter when restarting. Formatting the SD card sorted it out, but that rather defeats the object of copying to the iPad when travelling to have two copies of my photos for security. I'm looking for another option to do this now. Thanks, I think I will go for the camera connector rather than this third party bit of gear.

Apple do their best to make sure you can't buy/use 3rd party stuff with your iPad

So check that Apple being (arrogant) Apple does not mess with your camera too. Unless formatting is something you don't mind doing after each upload that is.
Not sure if it has that capability, but a good idea. I'll check it out.Write-protect the card before inserting?
Not tried it myself, but maybe a way to prevent any issues from occurring.
