4K monitor red spots and small icons

First of all I need to say I'm not that good with tech (too old). I've just had a new computer built and I've bought a Benq EL2870U 4k monitor. I can't for the life of me set it up without getting millions of tiny red flashing spots whenever the screen goes black or anything resembling black. What the hell am i doing wrong? Also the command boxes and text in certain programs are very very small. Thanks for reading.

The flashing red could be coming from interference / poor connection to your computer. Do you have another cable to try out ?

As for small text - in Windows there’s a scaling option - try that to increase the size

No not got another cable at the moment, can you tell me where to find the scaling option (windows 10)?

Right click on your desktop -> display settings -> scale and layout

This might be a stupid question but have you downloaded the manual and the drivers/software?
I have just had a look and it does seem a rather convoluted installation

The monitor has now developed a problem, it keeps going off and on every 30 second or so maybe I need to do another complete install??????

Are you sure that your video card can handle 4K and that the latest drivers are installed?

Sorted, I got a new cable and the interference cleared up. Just got to work on the scaling issue now.

From all the empty boxes l've got it is a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB....hope that means something to you because it means sod all to me. The computer is lightning fast and running 4k video is a breeze.

Thanks for updating us - glad it worked out.

No need for that info now we know it was an interference issue.
