46th challenge for the days ahead "Christmas" - DEADLINE EXTENDED!!

This week the challenge is...

Christmas

TWO WEEK COMP! DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 27th DECEMBER. NOW YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES!

Absolutely anything to do with Christmas. Extra bonus points if you avoid the standard themes and go for something a little more abstract or contemporary.

Remember the competition is open to EVERYBODY and hopefully the theme's broad enough to allow something for everyone.

All the usual rules apply:

All entries must be new photos, taken within the time frame of the comp so please leave exif intact.

Maximum of 3 entries per person.

Limited PP, cropping, exposure control, sharpening etc is okay, multi layered cut and pasting is not.

The winner chooses the theme for the following challenge.

Entries can be posted from 8pm on Thursday 17th December until 9pm on 27th December, with the winner announced later that evening.

Winner runs the competition for the following week.

I'm planning on getting something this afternoon, so watch this space.

Entirely up to you what you do, but I wonder whether it would be worth extending this one for another week?
I think it's a great theme, probably the only reason we don't have many shots yet is that people (myself included) are so busy in the run up to Christmas.

Another week will leave people with absolutely no excuse not to enter and will encompass the big day itself too!!!!

been really busy and is a great theme to rush pictures!

It will also give people a chance over x mass day and boxing day with pressents every were....hopefully mine! lol

Brilliant news I so wanted to enter this week but just hadn’t got sufficient time to capture the shot I have in mind and meet the deadline.

If it isn’t snowing too heavily here tomorrow and provided that my subject is still willing/available to pose, count me in!

One of my neighbours has some really impressive bronze turkeys, huge things which fan their tails out if you make the right kind of gobbling noise. I was hoping to capture some pics of them in the snow for this competition. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be but don’t worry, they’re pets and not destined for the table at Christmas or any other time!

So paltry offerings as opposed to poultry ones (apologies for the terrible pun ), here are my two entries:

Only 2 entires but two excellent sets of entries at that. I guess this time of year is just way too busy for lots of people.

I just love the simplicity of this shot and everything works. the detail of the ball, the light on the wooden floor and the lovely dof with the tree.
