SORRY: I've now put this post in to the Lighting thread!

Looking at purchasing some flash units for my Canon 450d.
The YN-460 Speedlight seems to be a good start for the price and able to vary the power output level.

I have also found a couple of old flash units off older SLRs and I'm wondering if they are compatible with the 450d?

They are a PRAKTICA 1600A and a SUNTAX 9000.

I read that you could damage your camera if the power to fire the flashes wasn't correct on the hot-shoe. Would these units be okay to use without any damage?
If used by a remote trigger could they be used as a second unit with the Speedlite?
Any advice most welcome!
Thanks

It's a little bit more then the one youve stated new, but its a great flash.

Bit pricey.
Thought the YN-460 Speedlite might do for now...around £35.
Looking at trying waterdrop photography and read about flash output at 1/128th etc???

Was hoping the other flashes I mentioned would be useful in the meanwhile and/or useful as a secondary light source using remote triggers. :shake:
