450 d & 40d Storage types

hey im wondering why that the 400d being the older model is Compact Flash and the 450 is Sd ?

would you say thats a downgrade and is the whole sd thing good to use ?

I see SD as an upgrade from CF. Although I expect the manufactures use them because they are smaller and easier to fit in to the design of the camera.

What surprised me is when they 'upgraded' the 400D to the 450D, they switched to SD cards, but when the 40D was replaced with the 50D later on, they didn't do it?

I think someone suggested it was because the 450D is probably going to be bought by someone moving up from a point-and-shoot or bridge camera, so are more likely to have SD cards already, but whether that's correct or not is anyone's guess I suppose...

Edit: I prefer SD cards, but that's purely because there's a SD card slot in the side of my laptop....I've heard people complain about their reliability as well, but i've never had any issues!
