Can anyone one tell me what the differences are?

Im looking to buy a flash for my 40D it will me my main one, id like the option of being able to fire it off camera or possibly to link it together to control another flash.

Will the 430ex or 430ex II allow me to do this or would be best holding off a while and getting a 580ex/exII?

Also How would the Sigma Flash units the 500 and super 500 compare?

Cheers

Neil

This is how i remember it, so what i say MAY be inaccurate.

If you're wanting to control another flash with the flashgun, and not use external triggers, and you want a canon system, then you're best getting a 580ex2, as you can set that as a master flash and then use the other flashguns as slaves (430ex/ex2).

Or, you could pay £25, get a set of wireless triggers off ebay, and use them, and get a single canon flash for on camera purposes, and a 3rd party flash for a wireless flash.

Running flash guns wireless, will lose the ETTL function, unless you pay mega £££ for ETTL transmitter flash triggers. (I think you can get them).

As i said, that's how i remember it, but it may be inaccurate.
