Hello all,
Over the past couple of months I have been shooting a roll of Fomapan 400 in amongst a few holidays and local outing with a 110 camera and various Digitals (Sorry about swearing I'll have to say none film cameras in the future). The camera was a 90's Panasonic Point and shoot which I have shot before but I didn't expect much from this and Fomapan ( not really had much success with Fomapan) I was really surprised ( Photo Hippo pulled it out the bag again) and the added bonus was I've got 43 shots ! Is it normal to get a few extra with Fomapan ?

I've never had that many, but I did get 41 shots from an Olympus OM4 back in the mid-eighties. It was probably Fujicolour as that was one of my favoured films at the time.

I think it might depend on how much you wind on at the start. My Nikon F80 winds automatically to the start and generally gives 37 shots, but there's quite a bit of blank at the start where a manual wind could get more shots. I don't recall anything more with the odd Fomapan film I've used, but what were the frame numbers beyond 36 as a matter of interest?

I've had (from memory) 42 frames from a 35mm film (brand lost to memory). Again, from memory, a standard 36 exposure 35mm film has a length of 5 feet four inches - someone will either correct me if I'm wrong or you can check. That therefore only leaves the question of how long is a piece of string Foma 35mm film?

The best I've managed in the past was 40 shoots from a very similar Praktica self loading camera ( sort of) But I chuffed with 43.

I haven't had the negs back yet just a download link which of course just went from 1 to 43.

With high end films (Kodak, Ilford, Fuji) they have tight quality control and, by loading the film carefully, you can usually get 38 shots from each 36 exposure cassette. Foma and Adox are not as tight in their control and the film length in a cassette is more variable so 40 shots is not unheard of. I have never managed 43.

If you haven't got the negatives back, there is a chance that you will find the frames are overlapping slightly if the camera is advancing the film badly.

43! And there was thinking I was doing well with getting 40 per roll.
