42nd Challenge For The Days Ahead – “Blue”

This week the challenge is...

BLUE

Flora, fauna, people, buildings, abstracts or any shot which conveys “blue” as you perceive it – whether that be colour, mood or any other interpretation of the theme: whatever you like really :)

All the usual rules apply:

All entries must be new photos, taken within the time frame of the comp so please leave exif intact.

Maximum of 3 entries per person.

Limited PP, cropping, exposure control, sharpening etc is okay, multi layered cut and pasting is not.

The winner chooses the theme for the following challenge.

Entries can be posted from 8pm on Thursday 19th November until 9pm on 23rd November, with the winner announced later that evening.

Well I said that I'd try to do something for this challenge every week.
Here are 2 quick shots from me . . . I might try to do a third with a bit more effort behind it at the weekend.

Here is my second picture, I know its not 'Blue' in colour, but its 'Blue' in the sense of, well...'bitta blue f dads' as Peter Kay says lol, am sure you know what I mean. Its my first picture like this to, hope its ok.

Crikey, this was a tough one to decide! Many thanks to everyone who entered :)

A quirky take on the theme done with style and in good taste. The only thing I’m not keen on is the shadow which is a little overpowering but I’m guessing that space was tight and there wasn’t much room to shoot?

Sharing 3rd place is Billybob99’s “Blue Gate”…

You’ve brought out the vivid colour really well and I like the shallow DoF which makes the subject stand out so crisply. My only criticism would be that the light on the gate is a little too specular and some sort of diffusion on the flash could remedy this. On my point and shoot camera which has pop-up flash I use a single thickness of white toilet roll which seems to improve matters. The cheapest fix ever - and it works! :lol: Omnibounce on my 580EX which I use with DSLRs same same but cost £15 :thumbsdown:

Such a simple yet powerful and evocative image. Takes me right back to my teenage years when anything but Levis were considered infra dig :geek:

Every detail from the arrangement of the pen colours to the border makes this work. I particularly like the way you’ve used the light to draw the eye to the pen in the centre of the group.

Good luck to everybody for next week and let’s hope that Sarah doesn’t choose a theme which relies on decent weather! The Met Office synopsis for Britain does not look promising :shake:
 
Good choices :-) and I had loads of room but I ended up liking the shadow.... Wrong decision I guess lol

And I would agree wholeheartedly to that.

I'll put next week's challenge up soon, and unless I choose "wet" or "water" I have a feeling that Alison's right and there will be a lot of indoor shots next week!
 
Oh Bum - it DID finish on sunday then... I saw the 23rd and thought we were over-running to today. Not that i'd have been able to post last night anyway - went to a concert. Even tried to get a shot that fit with the blue topic...



Never mind - and congrat's to SarahLee and everyone that entered again this week!
