My trusty 40D has thrown up a issue. The top wheel near the shutter release button has stated playing up. It's turns freely but only 'clicks' sometimes. Most of the time it turns smoothly, and when this happens the camera settings don't change. I've tried turning it slowly or quickly but the problem won't go away.

Anyone else had issues with a Canon (40D) wheel? If so can I fix it or is it a return to the manufacturer job?

It's around 3 years old so well out of warranty.

Thanks for any help :)

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the link. I'll see how tricky it looks and report back.

Good luck, hope it works out

Fixed!

I used some pointed tweezers to lift the rubber wheel then a hair clip to apply some super glue. I span the wheel a few times to spread the glue evenly and 10 minutes later it's working.

Thanks again for the link Andy :)

Yay for superglue!
