Bit of a strange one

After borrowing my mates 430ex i noticed that i couldnt use the built in flash after i had removed the 430.

i reset all settings and still not working. then it eventually worked again a few days later.

Recently got another flash gun and ive noticed the same thing happening. If i go into the flash setting in the camera it doesnt allow me to change anything comes up saying external flash is attached! Only setting that works is enable/disable flash?

Had to take out all batteries and leave it over night to get the built in flash going again.

anyone else experienced this?
 
There a little micro switch in the hotshoe that can get stuck down. Had the same prob on my 20D and a little bit of dis+assembly of the hotshoe fixed it.

Cant find the link on how to faf/fix it but its not hard to do

The little plastic plate with the pins in it pops out giving you access to the pins so it can be fettled
