Yes
After reading about problems that somebody on this forum has with a 40D, I checked with Google to find:
'40D problem' results in about 850,000 replies
'D60 problem' results in about 952,000 replies

How many people check this out before they part with their cash? :bonk:

i didnt, but dont have a problem.

bear in mind there will be a few duplicates there, and how many 40d or d60 there are out there

843,000 results for D300 problem... I think you could go on forever.

Probably more than half of these, of course, will not be actual problems with the camera, but users asking questions that they dont understand something and using that as the title of the thread.

Yes and don't forget how much of this is 'urban myth' and hear say on the internet.

People post when they have a perceived problem (not all problems are due to the camera). How many get online and say 'I've got such and such a camera and no problem and just wanted to tell you about it' - not as many, and how do you search for that in google anyway?

Whether the problem is 'real', perceived, with the user or with the equipment, it's still a problem. However you analyse the figures, it's still a huge number.

ok, i entered "40d problems"

set to uk only.... 26,500

now, i owuld guess most people here frequent other photography forums and probably would post there as well, so take a third off? 17,666.

then some wont be related to the canon 40d, so you prob down to about 10,000 max.

eliminate human error/wrong settings...? doesnt exactly leave many, but then work out how many 40d have been sold.

All it is, is google results. It doesn't mean anything.

'Camera Problem' results in 117,000,000 links
'Pencil Problem' results in only 3,410,000 links

Best sell your camera and get drawing.

All it is, is how many people have put those two words together on a website, that's all.

Erection problems - 778,000 links

It's a huge number but completely meaningless and taken out of context.

40D 22,400,000 and by page 5 already onto uk coinage and dublin buses

correct, pointless thread in it's current format, closing.
