It started last weekend at work (stressful!), when I press the normal shutter nothing happens for a good 2-3 seconds. When I press the shutter button on the battery grip it reacts normally.
Any idea what the problem is? As I say the normal shutter button does eventually work, but when shooting under pressure I need to know it'll react fast enough.

It would appear to be the shutter button failing.....it's not uncommon on the 350/400 and 30D bodies. It can be fixed yourself with the help of a reasonably practical person with a soldering iron or a send away job. The parts cost around £12 but I've no idea what the labour charge would be.

Any tutorials on how to solder it? I have a few reasonably practical people that are up to the job I think. My 350d is fine though, very annoying.

Thanks a lot Bob.
