Yes
Sorry - I know another which one... but

My bro is after a new toy and as he has some old Canon lens he is looking at the 400d.

The cheapest I can see the 400d for (from a reasonable dealer) is £389, but I can get the 450d for £449 (£499 - £50 cashback). For the extra cash is the 450 worth it? I think so, but would be interested to hear from others.

He is looking at Empire Direct at the mo (he can get 3 yrs warranty through them).... anywhere else he should try? anywhere cheaper.

Oh - and I assume that the 450d IS kit lens is far superior to the 400d - is this the case?

Thanks.....

and if I have ******ed anyone off with another which one.....sorry.

Does he need the full kit already having some lenses? Live-view is a very useful feature, especially for taking indoor portrait/studio shots and also for those times when you're not able to look through the viewfinder but can still compose a shot using the lcd at arms length

His lens are from an older film camera and I assume that they will still work. However I suspect that he will want a new shiny lens to play with and I reckon that the kit lens on the 450d is probably pretty good for his basic needs. Getting the body only does not really save him that much.

It would be best to find out what the older lenses are and let us know, it would be a pain if they didn't.

Thanks speed, but he was impatient and went out and bought the 450d this afternoon!

All things considered as he wanted new (personally I would have picked up a bagain on the For Sale thread), the 450d seemed the right choice. With the cashback offer the upgrade from the 400 was not that much.
