I'm looking to get a spare battery for my 400d. I've read that 3rd party batteries aren't much different than canon ones. Is there any specific brand I should look for? And also, would it be ok to charge it with the standard canon charger and not explode or anything like that?

I got original ones for mine as I found some for not much more. I did have third party ones but after nearly two years they did not hold the same power and I got rid. The original ones seam to still be holding the same charge as before.
