Hello,

Before I bought a Rollei, I just got me an entry into the film world with a Canon AE-1 program to see how it goes. Anyway, I'm looking for a wide angle lens that's nicely built as well as has good image quality for mainly landscapes and probably street that includes the landscape. Based on my digital images, I normally take images around the 21mm mark. Is there an FD or FDN lens that you can suggest? Based on my research there's so many lenses which would take quite a bit of time and research to get through. Plus the link I found here is only for Canon made lenses and I know there's even more out there.

In the past I have used some Canon FD lens including the Canon 28mm, 24mm, 20mm all are fine lens. I think now the 28 and 24 and not difficult to find the 20mm is little more rare.

Other then that I have an ancient Tamron 24mm f2.5 adaptall 2 lens which I have used not long ago on the T90 and from what I can tell is fine.

Nearly all Canon prime lenses are very good and some top class (more expensive)...your choice is the breech lock ones which are mostly metal or FDn ones with quick bayonet and mostly plastic. The cheaper versions of 24mm, 28mm or 35mm are very good and you won't be disappointed. The 35mm f2.8 could be a good compromise for street photography and landscapes. If the Canon 24mm is too expensive the cheaper Sigma 24mm super wide is very good and cheaper still the Tokina 24mm gives good results. Also don't forget you can get an adapter that can take M42 screw lenses if you want to play with some very good lenses, although your choice is usually 30mm upwards. Have fun (y)
