Morning all.

I've had an enquiry for a 30"x20" mounted print on lustre paper. I've used DSCL many times in the past for prints up to 18"x12" and have always been pleased with the results, but I've never used them for anything larger. Are they still the best option for bigger stuff? Or is it worth giving Loxley a try? Or perhaps someone else?

Cheers

Julian

the bigger stuff is done on inkjet paper with DSCL - loxley will bend you over a barrel and well, you can guess the rest ;)

Thanks. Colorworld's prices look reasonable too. Will give them a try if I get the order.

I'm not sure if DSCL offer a mounting service, but I would not try and mount a print this size myself without the proper equipment.

Me neither! I use a local place for mounting and framing. He's cheaper than I can buy the bits for.

I use DSCL regularly too but must admit that I've always avoided prints above 18x12inch (which are excellent BTW) - reson being I spoke to a staff member at DSCL who told me that the quality wasn't as good as the normal lustre prints.

For 30x20inch I've since tried Photobox "Matt", which I wasn't too impressed with and I've also used Togsprint (now ISL Photographic) which I found excellent, although I know a few people have had service issues with, personally I haven't.

Loxley & Peak Imaging are the others I've yet to try which seem to be highly rated

Thanks for the info. Might try a couple and compare/contrast

I've used Fauxfilm quite a few times and I've always been pleased with their service and the quality of their product.

Colorworld are good

Simon - what a terrible website. I've been trying to find print prices for ten minutes now....

Update for those interested:

In the end, customer decided on a 24"x16" print. Since I had to place an order with DSCL for some smaller stuff, I thought I'd give them a try first. Very pleased with what turned up. Yes, under close scrutiny, the print quality is not up there with their sub-18"x12" prints but it is excellent nontheless. Had the print dry mounted and framed behind glass and to be quite honest, it looked bloody brilliant :-) I would have no hesitation in using DSCL for larger prints in future, although I will probably still try one of the above recommended companies for comparison.
