Just out of interest, has anyone else signed up on Kickstarter for one of these ?

I am torn between one of these and. Peak Design strap.

Was thinking about the 34mm with padding, about £60 on KS IIRC.

Using Kickstarter usually gives you a lower price than when they go open market and I have used it for a few things in the post.

Looks like a copy of the LeoFoto SP-01, which is a take on the original Magpul. The 3LT version costs nominally more than the LeoFoto, and less than Magpul; I don't see a lot to differentiate them. Although, I have found that some of the chinese ones are not fully compatible with NATO (Magpul).

Wherever the QD socket is is where the camera will balance from, or hang awkwardly. I just use a NATO QD swivel attached to my regular straps (PD Slide is one); I prefer pinch-to-release QD swivels as I feel they are just a bit more foolproof (Strike Industries Micro/Magpul QDM). I have one lens with a QD socket integral to the foot that actually balances nicely. Otherwise I use a LeoFoto DC-22Q arca swiss clamp with QD socket.

The only reason I got into using QD was product development/demand; I don't think there's really much for it personally. An arca swiss clamp with secure strap mount point does the same thing as when I use the LeoFoto clamp, and with less.

I think I might go for a PD Slide Lite.

The only thing that really puts me off the 3LT one is the actual QD connectors might feel a bit bulky.

Having just upgraded my Nikon 180-600 tripod foot to a houge one that comes with an integral arca mount and a QD mount hole . I also ordered a couple of Q.D mounts from Amazon around £6 for the two .. I now have it suspended from my camera strap and works really well .. worth every penny as it’s lighter ,stronger and does the job without extra plates needed

I have, joined it very early on as looking for a solution for my OM1 Mk2 with the 3LT l bracket that I bought. However soon found out that several qd swivels I bought werent fitting correctly and actually disengaged and fell on the floor from a height of about 2 ft!, as it appears. not all QD fittings are actually universal! :$ Ended up doing the below video which may or may not help people thinking of them.

So, now I'm waiting for the Axis 34 (non padded) as currently using a PD strap which Im not really happy with as its awkward on the side of the L bracket where the eyelet is so close. Plus Im going to see if the 3LT qd fits the 3LT l bracket and will be raising issues with them if not as there's been some talk of them machining the later l brackets qd connector slightly deeper.

Make sure to test the qd connector over a mattress as if the camera was dropped off your shoulder is all I would say.

Personally wouldn't have anything to do with 3LT, I remember the owner having a strop on here
All because it was mentioned despite all the Union Jacks their stuff was made in the Far East.

I like their stuff, good quality is what matters, don't care where it's made particularly if its up to par. It's British Engineered / designed but don't think they've ever claimed that manufacturing is here in the UK?

I have ordered a slide lite.

Doing a bit of searching and found on here, the is a blog ( I think ) called Rich Roll and you can get a 20% discount with PD via it

I tend to hold the tripod foot as well as I walk anyway . But the fitting itself is very secure as far as I can tell . But might be worth replacing the clip yearly as the ball bearings would be the first failure point in the way of wear and tear ..

I had one of their tripods (Punks Billy) that the rubber on the leg locks twisted independently of the actual lock
So you thought you were tightening it, but all actually happened was the rubber went round.

The problem I have found is that the chinese stuff is generally made from aluminum, and the NATO stuff is made from steel (it was designed for military after all). Because of that the chinese QD sockets have a bit thicker edge with the retaining groove set just a bit deeper. So a NATO QD doesn't reach quite deep enough and doesn't fully engage.

Or maybe it's just an imperial > metric conversion issue as it's not only steel vs aluminum. I have a chinese replacement foot that has a stainless steel QD socket insert that I had to mill down slightly to work with my NATO QD swivel.

If it is the Haoge version be aware that the QD socket is not universal fit (it's the one I had to mill down).

Response from a member, not a mod . . .

There was a hilarious video, made at the Photography Show as it then was, with the owner claiming that they made everything themselves, including the carbon fibre:)

A Chinese friend, who spoke to the manufacturer who claims to have actually designed as well as made their products, says otherwise. But, as I don't speak Mandarin and didn't have that conversation myself, I just don't know.
