Yes
I just thought about it now...

Last time I had a puff was Saturday and it looks like I can make tomorrow then!

Any other out there who recently kicked the filthy habit??

CONGRATULATIONS!! I kicked it 4 years ago. It is quite an achievement.

Thanks Renee

Some way to go to equal your 4 years - good for you!

I kicked it 4 years ago too!

Take it a day at a time mate. You're over the worst of it. Just think to yourself, you really don't need to feed that filthy disgusting drug addiction..It doesn't do anything for you...

Just keep thinking that and you'll sail it.

Congrats on getting over the first day :)

keep us up to date on how you are getting on, much respect to you Anton, I have never got past day 1 when I have attempted to quit.
Good luck.

Congrats on getting over the first day :)

Cheers

Thanks Marcel

I think when you finally find the right reason to stop it becomes permanent!

Until then any excuse will do - ask me!:bang: :bonk:

Well done Anton. I've never smoked, but admire anyone who can kick the habit - it can't be easy, but hang in there!

I found it easy 24 yrs ago but I had a nagging Irish wife to 'help' me . Carried 'em around in my pocket for the next three months too, never once had the urge, I do get it occasionally now though

Agree with above, you're over the worst, just tell people you don't smoke, don't tell 'em you've given up.

Well done.

Sound advice, thanks!

3rd day today and a bit tough 'cause back at work where lots of now ex-fellow smokers do their thing!

Already feeling better physically so no way to light up again!

I stopped smoking 12 years ago and I've never once had the urge to light up again since :D. Look at those folks at work smoking and pity them, then remind yourself that you're now an ex smoker and feel proud :) They'll go home smelling like an ashtray - you won't  Good luck Anton.

hmmm - still in the planning stage myself. Need to make sure it's executed to perfection which is why its taking so long :D

July 1st should help

Will take you up on that 1st of July thing!!

Will take you up on that 1st of July thing!!

Its when the smoking in enclosed public spaces law comes into force in England.

Why it becomes illegal to kill people with secondary smoke but still legal to make £4.80 in tax per packet of 20 is beyond the realms of my ability to process logic, but i'm sure there's a damn good reason that doesn't involve money.......

Anyway, seems like a good time to be a grumpy git for a reason :D

At least you'll have a reason now ;)
and to your credit, you have give up Marlboro and started smoking Camel dung

At least you'll have a reason now ;)

Dammit - forgot about you old boy! Gonna have to take up poppies to help me through our meetings now :)

GREAT BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POSTED HERE!!

Halfway through day 5 and, although tempted on the odd occasion, was actually quite agitated when someone smoked in my office this morning.

Couldn't really stand the smell of it... but OK it was early morning...

Will report at one week again!

hehehe - is that Boer code for 'took his legs off at the neck'?

well done my friend - keep it up. I'll be right behind you (I only say that cos i know it gets Janice excited ;))

Well done Anton  Keep up the hard work and the willpower. Apparently the first 5 days are the worst, so you're almost through the worst bit.

The big breakthrough for me was a couple of weeks after I stopped, I walked passed someone in the supermarket and could immediately smell that they were a smoker - it was horrible. That was the moment I knew for sure that I would never smoke again :D

:embarrassed: :naughty:

How did you know?

Did you visit with HUN at some stage??

Cheers m8!

Had an RSA girlfriend for a year or so - I know as much as i ever want to!!! :cuckoo: :D

I stopped 32 years ago on my 50th birthday. Now the smell of them makes me feel sick. I was at a disadvantage as we could buy 10 pack cartons of U.S cigs for the equivalent of 12 1/2 pence. Do not give up, just think you are better than the other smokers. The first couple of weeks is a doddle. then it starts to get tough.

:bat:

I will interpret this as being about the girl only...:bat:

VERY TRUE!!

I stopped for more than 2, nearly 3 months last year and due to stupidity (MY OWN) thought that, surely, after nearly 3 months ONE DRAG WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE.....

Boy, was I wrong:bang:

DAY 6 BTW...

and getting more and more of a dislike in smelling smoke, especially old stale smoke in other people's clothing...:gag:

Did I use to STINK like that??:gag: :gag:

They always say theres nothing worse than an ex smoker for that.

good effort there Anton, I quit 3 years ago (OMG is it really that long!) It feels like yesterday and I miss them every day lmao, only joking I never looked back and never missed them once, the added bonus is the wife as £100 extra each month to spend :suspect:

Congrats to all who are trying, I should be joining your ranks shortly, there's just no way I'm giving up days before my bike test :D

One week folks!!

 :D :woot:

Starting to cough now like donkey with TB - according to a doctor mate of mine the little microscopic hair stuff in the airways start to become alive again after a few days of not smoking and then they start to work out the gunk we put in there by smoking... hence the coughing.

He reckons it will get better in a day or 2:(

If DW gave up smoking it would pay for my canon 100-400 lens and a good macro lens.:D
