24" Monitor Advice

I've seen this monitor which my youngster is thinking he wants for Christmas... Not sure if it's a reasonable one or not.

Any advice as to its quality?

LG do a reasonable 24" IPS if your on a tight budget. have a look at the recent thread in the processing section titles something like "which editing monitor"

Thanks Neil, I'll take a look. I think the boy wants the spec to include the Full HD bit - probably for gaming knowing him

They're all full HD nowadays. If it is for gaming, it will need a fast response time. ALL manufacturers lie about contrast ratio - I suspect the same can be said for response time which doesn't equate to input lag (I don't game, so would not know which are the good gaming monitors)...

I have had Viewsonic in the past as part of my demo kit and it worked well and also stood up to being trucked all over the place.
However, given the choice, I would probably prefer to buy LG or Samsung - I have also had them. To be honest, if you are looking to keep costs down, simply choose the one that you like the look of best - all much of a muchness really.
