24-70mm 2.8 nikon or tamron?

Last time i posted something was like one year ago, you've been so helpful so here i am.

Thanks to your suggestions i bought a D750 and later on a Tamron 70-200 2.8 g2. Since then i improved a lot considering what i had before and now it's time, by necessity, to upgrade more.

I can't always use the 70-200 (obv reasons) and cause i'm shooting a lot of basketball i was looking for a 24-70 or a 24-120.
At the end i decided to go for a 24-70 and after further research i was left with the Nikon AF-S 24-70 2.8E ED VR and the Tamron 24-70 2.8 Di VC USD G2.

Here i am to ask you what are your thoughts and experiences with both lenses and to understand better the reason of the price gap between them.

I have the Nikon 24-70 , for quite a while and it has never let me down.

I had a tamron G2 on a D850 with no issues

I've got the Tamron G1 & it works fine for most of things I use it for.

The Nikon supposedly focuses more quickly; that would be a consideration for basketball.

Why did you discount the 24-120/4 Nikkor? I kept mine and sold my non-VR 24-70 Nikkor. With modern cameras you can compensate for the loss of one stop by upping the ISO.
