can you use a Raynox 'adapter' on a 20mm f1.7 lens for close up photo's like marco....or would it best to be on a 45-200mm lens????...

You can but I'm not sure what it would be like. Personally for macro I prefer something like an old 135mm on extension tubes, but of course it's MF only. At the moment I use an old Zuiko 50mm f1.8 on a Teleplus 2x Macro teleconverter, which acts like a giant variable extension tube, and gives me in effect avery cheap very heavy 100mm macro, but it works.

It will work just fine on the 45-200. 20mm is too wide, it will vignette. You'd be shooting too close for comfort anyway.
