1st camera choice HELP!!!!

Hi all, Im new so be gentle! Im looking to get my first dslr soon and Ive been reading all the advice/reviews I can, but Im still unsure about my choice. I can really only spend £200 max, and have been looking at the Canon 300D and 350D. Im just wondering what the main advantages of the 350D are for the extra money? Or is there anything else I should be looking at in that price range. I plan on buying second hand (ebay!). Any other advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

For about £200 you could buy a brand new Nikon D40, and I think you can get the Sony A200 for about that, maybe tad more.

I'd personally try to buy a new camera if you can, as its (just about) do-able with your budget (just...)

The A200 was the other camera I was considering. Anyone any opinions on that vs the Canon choices? The fact that I would be getting a new A200 as opposed to a second hand Canon could sway me. Argh its too confusing!

I can't find any anywhere! The excercise was to get rid of 'old stock' and at that price, I think the old stock got rid of pretty quickly!!

Personally I wouldn't buy off e-bay anymore. I know there are still a lot of trustworthy sellers but there are too many who are not. I would keep an eye on the for sale thread on here, very honest folk on this forum.
Also this advice is always passed on to new camera buyers, go to a shop and handle some cameras. Quite often you'll find that a certain make does not / does suit you better than another make.
