Ok, so before everyone says its user error or some such thing, I would stress that I have done everything in my power to prevent such a thing!
Recently impressed by my partners purchase of a £100 fuji bridge camera I thought I'd run a few comparison shots between that and my own 1d mark iii with L series lens. First off was the 24-105mm. I was unsure how to match the focal ranges between mm and x zoom so based my results on 'what the eye saw'
After taking several shots of static subjects, I was quite surprised that 100% crops/zoom, are much sharper on the bridge camera! Changing lens to my 300mm prime the results are the same.
This is a bit vague I know andi haven't uploaded any shots for you all to compare but thought I'd see what interest / comments I recieve first.
Do you all think this is normal?
Incidentally I don't tend to pixel peep, but found the results rather startling especially considering the price difference. :bonk:
What do we all think?
Just for info, My camera took a pretty bad knock a while back and I am unsure whether something could be up?
Will upload images soon.

Hi thanks for reply, as I said in post 'this is a bit vague'.
Setting for both cameras was as equal as possible. Tbh it was not test conditions but one would assume thousands of pound vs £100 I would ave thought it would have been an obvious winner every time? But alas, the fuji won on each shot. Shutter /aperture of equal value

User error or damage.

To be honest your test sounds extremely vague, same settings, same conditions, same subject, tripod mounted etc?

I agree. 1DIII can produce extremely sharp results without much effort. Maybe let the Canon service have it for a week if it's not a user error.

I was sending it in as it took a heavy knock a couple of weeks ago. Got knocked off an ironing board of all places so around 4 foot with a flash and lens attached, though the lens did take most of the damage!

so you should only compare that with fuji after dropping it off an ironing board! Please be fair to poor canon  The sensor or af module might come out of alignment, all sorts of evil things...

Thanks for the reply, I expect it's nothing more than user error even though I took shot with both cameras and even though I'm way off pro I certainly know how to take test shots. I havent been particularly impressed with the results from my 1d for a little while and it has taken quite a hammering, so I will endevour to contact H lehmann today; could be time for the old beast to have a bit of spa treatment!
