Is it even worth considering? ive heard alot about them being cheaper second hand, but my suspision is that the shutter has been release many times and may be close to the end of its days.
would i be right in thinking this? or is it worth perswading my dad to get me one?

is there an alternative Canon that might be more approproit to look at getting to replace my 350d?

Hi Greg, Unless the 1DMkII has been owned by a Pro and been in use every day of its life I can assure you the shutter will be working for a long time yet..

If I am not mistaken they have a life span of up to 200,000 actuations..

I bought one of mine new and the other used. The only way I can tell them apart is coloured dots stuck on them!

200k actuations is a huge amount for anyone to take. I'm about 10% of the way there on mine and the used one I bought had about 10k actuations

wow thanks alot guys that makes me more confidant.. and thats what you need when getting your dad to fork out 2500quid! lol

Ive just been looking, and from what Joe T said ive had a mindshower (cant say brainstorm ;) )

I have a 30d.. and its going to be costly to upgrade.. and i share that camera with my dad, but it seems highly worth selling the 350d and buying a 20D... now the price is only around 450. one of the main adv is it has a thing for my studio lighting to connect into... and it also takes the better larger bateries.

What dyou guys think?

The one I bought was 11 months old and had under 1500 actuations, not even run in.
