Hi everybody, (especially 1D MK 1V users ).

Do any of the MK 1V users on T.P. think that the MK 1V is a big leap from the MK 111 or just a little better, does the increase in technology equate to the increase in price?

The reviews that can be found on the internet differ somewhat depending on whose review you happen to read, naturally, but do the users on this forum agree that the model is a major upgrade from the previous one.

I know that a lot of the users on here are not pro photographers so what makes a dedicated amateur spend that sort of money just to enjoy their hobby.

Is it really the best that money can buy?

All the best John.

Just seen this post and not replies so I'll leave one.

I only had a mkIII for a short while but there are a few things that made me get the mkIV over the mkIII.

I really didn't get on with the low res LCD screen on the mkIII. Not a big deal I know but once I got used to the high res one on the 7D I found it the only way to go.

The extra mp of the mkIV over the mkIII are useful for motorsport and aviation where being able to crop heavily is very useful. I moved from a Canon 100-400 to a 70-200 so it can also come in handy for a little extra reach when it's needed.

I wanted the video mode on the mkIV too. It's not for everyone so it's really up to you if you want this or not. No full time AF on the video is a bit problematic. If it had full time AF ie like a standard video camera then it would be out of this world (but likely cost more like £8000 I guess).

Hight ISO is better on the mkIV than the mkIII. Have a read up on this as I don't have any test shots to show you.

I would say it's only really you who can say if the upgrade is worth it. If you have the spare money then I would say go for it, it will future proof you for a good while.

Hope this helps.
