As always, tried to think of something that has a range of interpretations and can be attempted by anyone with a lot or a little time, indoors or outdoors, simple or technically complicated, therefore, whilst listening attentively at Mr Yv talking to me through the living room window whilst sneakily perusing the For Sale foums, I hit upon this idea. :naughty:

GLASS

All usual rules apply - maximum 3 images each and must be taken in time scale, which starts now.

You can post your images between Sunday 30th May 8pm, and Tuesday 2nd June at 8pm [going to allow a few extra days for those that might have gone away for half term]

Off you go guys, thinking caps on.

Hmmmmmmm, interesting. I feel a boring fallback shot being the result for this one:lol:

Darn, I took my glass shot yesterday

C'est la vie ! ;)

Ha! Ditto - I put mine up as a weather picture.... would have been perfect for a GLASS shot :bang::lol:

Oh well, it's a good title, with tons of scope - I'll just have to get thinking again.

As it happens my daughter dug up a batch of broken coloured glass in the garden last week - I put it to one side thinking that I could do something with it.

Right. I've had a couple of ideas - (One of which was inspired by a discussion elsewhere on here. ) - I just have to work out how to make them work.

I shot one this morning and one last night - But both were rubbish!!!!

I was going to, but just have not had any time this last week.

Well - I've seen the one that I think should be the winner......and NO, it is not mine.

BUT - I notice it has run over by about half a week now. That means that to get it back on schedule, the next project will only have a couple of days to run if it is to finish back on the Sunday evening.

How does everybody feel about letting this one run for a few more days?

That may give others the chance to submit an image, and also get it back on track for a standard 1 week challenge Sunday - Sunday, next week.

Just an idea.

Sorry for not posting winners last night, didnt get home form work til late so only paid a brief visit here.

In answer to your question about the next one Jay, there was never really a set time limit, it has varied across them but with the average time being a week. However, perhaps the next one could run from today until sunday next week [14th] as you suggested.

However, the decision will be...........naaaahhhhh, 3rd and 2nd place before announcing the winner :D

:3rd: goes to Defiance for his line of lenses, I like the symetry and matching colours of this one, well spotted

:2nd: goes to Nick T for his flaming glass, very effective

:1st: and the big prize goes to you CrazyJay - ever since you first posted this, I have looked and looked and every time, the way sun has caught the goggles makes me feel there are a pair of old but wise eyes looking back at me from decades ago and any picture that can be so simple and yet so evocative deserves appreciation imo  Oh and yes, I am slightly mad !

oh a special mention for uniquegardens for your interpretation of theme. The only thing that stopped it getting into the podium positions was the fact it perhaps needed just a few more glass pebbles, the word 'glass' wasn't totally clear if you know what I mean, but the most literal image and I still like it

Seeing as there is only one other image not mentioned, I think I may as well give some thoughts on that too - Nick, I really like the bottles shot, I just feel the lighting could have been a bit more....errrr...imaginitive, its a wee bit flat atm, but they are lovely objects to photograph and maybe a change of background, something more in keeping with their aged appearance would make a really good still life. An old wooden crate or something.

Anyway, thats them all, thankyou to those that did enter, I hope a few more people give Jays a go, and well done folks

Wow - thanks..... I really didn't expect that.

As soon as I saw that collection of old bottles, I thought that had nailed it. But then again the blue flame on that drink (Zambucka?) is pretty impressive too. Well done Nick on 2 very professional looking still life shots.

OK - so you all have a couple of extra days on this. Final date for entries will be Sunday 14th June. Same rules will apply - (So I'll be lazy and do a copy/paste as i set the first page up.) Back soon with the details.

Congrats CrazyJay on the win :) and thanks for the kind words on the bottles :)

Congrats defiance on the 3rd placing too :)

Thanks to Yv for the 2nd place - appreciated! :)

It's funny because on another forum the challenge this week is also 'Glass' and I bought the Sambuca specifically for the challenge!
Saying that, I did the same with the miniature bottles - found a collection of about 50-60 of them at a car boot sale and got them for 7 quid!
Appreciate the comment about the lighting. I don't have any off camera flash yet so had to try and make do with ambient coming through the window and a reflector to try and add a bit! Good idea about a crate or something aged, that's definitely worth a go - got plenty more of the things to practice with! :)

Thanks again :)

Hi,

Congrats CrazyJay loved the goggles.

Yv Thank you for you kind words...it was a bit rushed and did look a bit amateur.

Once again well done CrazyJay
