My turn to do the banana dance (after seeing Jewel's post) -> :woot:  :woot:

:D

Purely pleasure. :D

Gonna be bringing everything.

Can't wait to see the pics.....it's somewhere I'd love to visit. Have a great time!

PS: make sure your gear is fully insured for taking it out of the country! Some policies don't cover overseas.

Insured indeed. :geek: I think Japan's pretty safe. My colleague left his wallet in the taxi a couple weeks ago and he tracked it down to the taxi company call centre and picked it up with all cash and cards intact.

I'll try to take some half decent pics to show y'all.

Clearly not *everything*. Where's my ticket?

If you can fit in my suitcase. ;)

Been there got the T-Shirt. Wouldnt mind going again, but the flight... shudder.
It was totally DIFFERENT to everything I was used to. Almost a differnt world.

Have lots of fun.

I'm debating if I want to bring the tripod as well......

You probably want to TAKE the tripod with you. If its not too big.
There are some really great areas that come to life after dark.

Naughty

I was thinking of kinjuko (SP) it looks like times square on steriods.
Or maybe the emperors palace (illuminated), or... or...

:D

Shinjuku. :)

Taken on my last trip there in December 04/January 05.

Blurb from blog:
This will be my third trip to Japan, the last one was in December 2004 when I went to Osaka, Kyoto, Himeji and Tokyo.

This time, I'm off to Sapporo in Hokkaido where I'll be visiting my friend, Tora-san. :) We'll be off to Jyozankei for some R&R in an onsen resort.

Will be in Tokyo for a week staying with my brother and his family. Can't wait to see my nephews again. :) My evil cunning plan is to bring some cartoons in English in hopes that it'll plant the seed to me being able to communicate with my nephew when he's older. haha. Transformers and Thundercats, anyone remember? ;) Let's hope the DVD will play with different region and Japanese TV being NTSC.

A pilgrimage (or two or three) to Akihabara is on the cards. As an otaku, this is a must. :) Will be looking for some Macross stuff, maybe a Kon doll to stick in my car window. :D

Also, have something planned with a Japanese car review website that is mainly run by a French guy. ;) I might get to tag along for their trip into the mountains to review the Nismo 350Z! Keep your fingers crossed that the French guy doesn't suddenly go back on his word to take me along. hehe.

Will also be meeting up with two old friends whom I met while travelling from Verona to Como in Italy in June 2000. We only travelled together for 2 days, but we've been in touch almost 7 years. :)

Ichigo ichie - Treasure every meeting, for it will never recur.

OOOh!!! Leave the tripod behind & take me :D
Id love to go to Japan, what an amazing experience ... oh & nothing to do with the fact that they also have the most talented nailartists in the world!;)

See everyone in a couple of weeks. Though I might pop back here once in a while.

Be good! ;)

Have a smashing time, Kamion.................looking forward to seeing your wonderful photos when you return!

I've arrived in Tokyo. :D Went out for lunch with my brother and now I'm at Haneda airport waiting for my flight to Sapporo.

I'm so tired! There was a kid sitting behind me on the flight from London and he was kicking the chair and crying and screaming most of the way. :(

It's a beautiful day with clear blue skies in Tokyo at about 11C, but apparently it's snowing quite heavily in Sapporo.

You lucky so and so, can't wait to go back there (and for the 1st time with a DSLR)

Have a great time.
