The theme for this weeks challenge is

Numbers.

I've been wanting to do this theme for a while now and am looking forward to how it gets interpreted by different people. As with previous challenges, think as outside of the box as you like.

As I'm not able to post an entry this week I have included an example below of just how I personally interpreted the theme - for those who are scratching their heads or wondering what floats the judges boat this week

The rules:

All new photos, the idea is to take something new within the time frame!
Maximum of 3 entries per person!
Limited PP, cropping, exposure control, sharpening etc is okay, multi layered cut and pasting is not!
The winner chooses the theme for the following challenge!

Entries can be posted from 8pm on Friday until 8pm on Sunday, with the winner announced later that evening.

Good luck to everyone who takes part!

That's different, thinking cap on!

Good assignment hepburn

That's different, thinking cap on!

Cheers guys. It was the example photo which got me thinking one day on a trip to Woodbridge in Suffolk. If you think about it we are surrounded by numbers everywhere, so it shouldn't be hard to take a photo. The trick to this challenge is how people utilise and present the number ;)

might partake in this to break myself into TalkPhotography again.
pretty good topic i think!

I am signing up for this one [as I did the last two] and hopefully won't forget about THIS one :(

Am really sorry if I DO forget, it's not lazyness it is sheer business and not finding the time :bang:

well if you've got your head buried in the books then all you need to do is take a shot of them with a nice blurry dof. lol

No books. And infact I'm not busy in the sense of actually 'busy' just pre-occupied, no excuse really mainly just my lack of a functioning memory!

I will do my best to get some pictures for this week!

I went out especially to get a picture for the last one, and then forgot to post it :(

I like the theme :)

Just a little bump and a reminder people can start posting entries 8pm tomorrow (friday) onwards.

Dam I was going to do the exact same thing with the scales now thinking cap back on.

Looking forward to what else appears too!

No 2, Double 5

I learned a lot getting this shot. A lot of trial and error as I slid a pair of dice down a sheet of black mounting card.

In the spirit (and rules) of this challenge, it wanted to achieved it 'in camera' and took getting on for a couple of hundred shots to get about half a dozen usable ones. It would have been a lot quicker and easier to have shot the dice nicely lit against a black background and added the trails in post processing.

I used second curtain sync with an off camera 580 EXII set to manual at 1/64th power, and this coupled with a slightly underexposed daylight image meant using ISO 50 and 1/6th sec @ f5.6 to get the movement trail and keep the card as dark as possible.

It was a challenge to try to get the dice to move slowly enough to capture a trail with the available light but not too quickly to slide out of the image area before the second curtain began to close and the flash fired, this meant a lot of trial and error as to how much I tilted the sheet of mounting card.

Taken on the Canon EF100 macro @ about 1:2 (dice are about 12mm)

I suggest you delete the 3 images you don't want to enter, so as to then be compliant.

Well I tried going to the gallery to delete the last entry of the tombstones but failed miserably perhaps because I'm using a PDA.

So to be "compliant" I suggest both my entries be deleted.

Thanks

Jamie

Firstly, only you or the mods can delete your posts.

You could just edit your post 2nd post and delete all the text and references to the images in the post and then just enter something to the effect 'images deleted to comply with challange rules' Jobs then a good un!

Jamie,

as already suggested, just edit both of your posts and remove the relevant pics so you only have 3 pics in total. Any problems, feel free to pm me letting me know which are to be entered. As i'm the judge for this weeks challenge as long as i know which are your entries and which are to be ignored that's the main thing.

Jon.

Hi Shogun, Was your entry photo taken this past week? Only ask because the data for it says last modified 24th March and the rules of the challenge are for new photo's only.

Thanks Jon,

I have pulled both entries due to the fact I erroneously had a set in mind. Since my entries only worked as sets I pulled them.

Next time I'll read the rules.

Apologies to all.

You could always post just one set of three?

Anyway, just under 3 hours for any last minute entries from anyone else too.
