I have just bought a Rollei A26 (£4.99 from the bay). I know 126 film is rarer than an honest politician but I have found a video explaining how to re-spool 35mm on to a 126 cassette.
So, my question is this, does anyone have an old 126 cassette I could have/borrow/buy? Bit of a long shot but I'm loathe to spend £20 to buy an out of date film.

Funnily enough I'm watching the Agfa one but they all seem to get upto at least £18. May have to bite the bullet and just buy one.

If you can"t get the cartidges and really want to get a shot out of it then cover the red window or whatever "window" there is for viewing the film with some film backing paper, stuck down with gaffa tape, Make a template ( cardboard will do) that sits nicely in the film slot inside the camera, then cut a piece of sheet film to fit.

Admittedly you only get one shot at a time but it's what I do with the many cameras I have where film is no longer available.

You may fall lucky with a 126 cartridge but it seems they are becoming collectable....hence the prices they go for!
 
Apparently the film is the same as 120. It's only the spools that are different.
I've managed to get away with 120 on my old (1938) Voightlander. Might be worth a go.
The problem will occur if the 120 is too fat in the chamber.
Try it for size.

Thats 626 film not 126, 626 is the same as 120 but with a narrower spool.
126 is a small fully contained cartridge of film, similar in size to 35mm

Sorry Rob but I think you mean 620 film ( not 626) was the same width as 120 but was on spools that had flanges of a smaller diameter than the 120 spools.
Hence why 120 film can be respooled onto 620 spools and used in 620 format cameras.

As for the 126, I think like yourself it is similar film size to 35mm.
I've never tried to respool a 126 cartridge, instead i've just cut sheet film like i described earlier.

If it's going to cost about £20 just for a film, then this might be a better buy ....camera nad 2 cartridges!!
 
Funnily enough my bid is winning that one at the moment so fingers crossed. Although I do like the idea of using sheet film, it would at least let me try the camera out.

I'd consider sending one of the cartridges to you as a gift .......well maybe :D

Going on past experience, I suggest you stick a "killer" bid in with just a few seconds left ....looking at the other bidders info, I get the feeling he possibly buys and sells ....with the present prices of 126 films at the moment he possibly believes he's on to an earner if he wins this and splits it to sell on.

Wicked ...well done!

Not a bad deal at all when compared to buying a single film.

The film that's in the camera might throw out some interesting results too if you develop it!

All you've got to do now is master how to respool 35mm onto the cassette...enjoy!
