125cc off road bike help

Hi Guys,

My son has taken a keen interest in off road biking and I'm going to purchase a 125cc bike for him. There are a load of options though and I'm not sure what I'm looking for. The bike options seem to centre around 14/12 and 17/14 wheels. He is 5ft tall and a couple of months away from his 13th birthday. He weighs roughly 50kg.

Is it as simple as measuring his inside leg and matching it with a seat height?

Also I was looking at 10ten, m2r and mxb bikes but would anyone be able to tell me what the difference is. I assume better quality parts but I really don't know.

Find a schoolboy scrambles club near you and/or go along to a meeting - the parents are so enthusiastic and happy to help, and you may even find someone who is selling a bike. Here in Cornwall there are a couple of tracks for Grasstrack and motocross with clubs coming from all over the country. I'm sure many will be happy to let your son sit on their bikes to try for size and also offer useful advice.
