Long time lurker here. Late one night a few weeks ago I was browsing a specialist auction site and bid on a lot, not thinking for a second I would win. I now own a rather immaculate RZ67 II. I am not regretting it but after years of of digital i’m not in a position to develop myself. Most of the names I remember regarding decent film developing have gone and it seems a bit of a desert out there.
A search seems to bring up Filmdev as an option. Any other names I should consider for B & W and Colour 120?Also I guess slide development is anther different question?

Congratulations, what a wonderful happy accident ! What lens have you got ?

Well actually, 50, 110, 180 & 250. All W, in similarly pristine condition that came in the same lot. Child in a toy shop springs to mind.
You are Going to have some right fun there :)

Of course the most cost effective solution would be to develop them yourself. And a lot depends on the type of film you will use, for illford films surely you cannot beat the manufacturers own labs which maybee 50p more than generic and will push pull etc.

No affiliation,, yada yada

You will find that many developers will use the "develop" price as a loss leader and then shaft you on the scans, bear in mind the Combined price when evaluating your options. Harman is 11.50 combined.

For colour I use DSCL who are first class printers A4=about a pound, but Colour development + std scan is £8.

Filmdev are good, Analogue Wonderland are good, AG Labs are good. Those are the ones I've used at various times for 35mm and 120 and also in one instance AW for 110. Nik % Trik I've used happily for 127.

Nice accident :) :ROFLMAO:

Some of the bigger names mentioned already obviously do a good job regarding film. I use a local lab to me [Photographique] for a few reasons. Firstly, they are a very quick turnaround & I've never had any issues with quality. Second, I don't like the thought of posting films, I'd rather hand deliver. Thirdly, the slightly dearer cost is balanced by the zero postage cost. I also pay for tiff scans which is extra cost instead of just developing - but I'm not shooting 3 films a week, I don't have any equipment for scanning and I don't have any software for converting so..... It's just 'easier' for me.

Thank you everyone. Keep your thoughts coming please. As above, local would be nice, I’m just south of Oxford, colourbox who I used previously have long gone.

Though to my knowledge, they don't do processing Analogue Cameras are in Oxfordshire so may be worth asking them if there are any local processors that they would recommend.

re Darkroom prints/scans....it seems pointless using a larger camera above 35mm for decent size prints (or scans) using their small scan....... h'mm why not scan all sizes say @ 1024X1545.
35mm 1024X1545 max ecommended print size 5"X7.5"
6X4.5 1024X1398 max recommended print size 4"X5"
6X7 1024X 1255 max recommended print size 4"X5"

If I want dev/scan (and not E6, but who can afford that these days?) it's pretty much always Filmdev.

For dev-only (ie scan at home) I use The Darkroom UK in Cheltenham who have never let me down.

AFAIK AW are at Bicester, so not too far from you if you want to avoid posting (I had two rolls posted second class go missing on the way to Filmdev... definitely not received by them, and two rounds of claims to Royal Mail say it was definitely delivered; I'm now using Tracked 48 which is only pennies more).

I'll once again mention the nifty price estimator for 35mm & 120 Dev + Scan on Google Docs. The prices have not been adjusted for a year or so, but it should give you an idea of some options.

Thank you everyone, much food for thought and I will be be making a few phone calls. Now off to build up my wrist strength, it gets very heavy very quickly!

I'm sure you'll enjoy the MF experience. (I love it)

I develop and scan all my own B&W but find colour a bit of a faff.

I send all my C41 to Harman Labs. They are a bit more expensive than others mentioned on here but I am following the development on their Phoenix films and am happy to pay a bit extra to see this progress.
