As I mentioned earlier today in Yv's thread, I was thinking of running a similar challenge in June next year, with real prize(s)! I'm thinking along the lines of a 4GB card (I'm not made of money and will be funding this out of my own pocket!) of whatever type the winner may use (or a couple of rolls of film, if that's the preferred medium).
This is basically just a heads up so people can start looking for and buying their cameras before they vanish from the shelves.
As I said in Yv's thread, I will be as strict as possible with the few rules I intend to make - NO PP at all - not even resizing. Boots did my 27 exp film for £8 - D&P&CD. The pixel dimensions in the lores folder are 497x400 and the largest file size I managed is 116KB, both well within forum gallery limits. I may ask for original files to be e-mailed to me if I suspect any PP has gone on - or I may just ignore those pics! I rather suspect that I'll ask for the original files rather than being too high handed - depends on my mood, I suppose.
I've chosen June since by then, light should be good enough to keep noise down andskirts should be short enough to hold my interest! there should be plenty about to snap. I will do my best to ignore sloping horizons, unless I manage to keep more than 50% of mine level. I shall restrict entries to 2 per member - I know that I only really managed 2 good snaps from my effort and a limit will help keep bandwidth usage down to keep the Slackers happy!
I may have 2 categories, colour and B&W, although the B&W lot will probably want (or even demand!) to be allowed to D&P their own films and scan them themselves too. Can't say I'll blame them for the D&Ping (after all, that's not cheap for B&W), although I believe there are C41 B&W disposables available (Maybe someone knows who makes them and can advise). Haven't made up my mind about judging yet. Might be by poll or may just be my (and my wife's) opinions, based mainly on how pretty a picture it is and if it makes us laugh. Obviously, if I decide it's my decision, I won't be entering (although I may well post my 2 pics!) but if it's to be done by poll, I probably will enter. I'm trusting anyone with multiple accounts not to cheat by voting too many times - I think the mods have that well under control anyway.
Looking forward to seeing your results,
Nod.
(PS, anyone wanting to contribute further prizes, PM me and I'll check it's OK with the mods. You may even get a say in the judging but will of course be excluded from the competition!)
