11th Challenge for the days ahead - have a look....

OK, the theme for this one is

SPORT

Now before you all go thinking, 'oh god, that means I have to go outside' :eek: [:lol:], it doesn't, you just have to think outside the box a bit if time is limited. As long as the image can be in some way related to sporting endeavour - human, animal or mechanical - anything goes. I think this is an area many people shy away from as not being 'my thing', so I think its good theme to get a lot of poeple out of their comfort zone and doing something different. Those of you that do traditional sports photgraphy nearly every week, might want to consider moving away from your normal stuff and perhaps try something more unusual.

Same rules as always- pic must be taken between now and the closing date [please see below] Maximum 3 entries per person.

I have changed the times slightly for a reason - I am away next weekend from early Saturday until Tuesday, so as this theme can cover such a huge array of subject matter and people might want more then one weekend to get their shot sorted, I have decided entries can be posted between 8pm Thursday 9th April and Sunday 8pm 12th April This gives you nearly two weeks including a couple of weekends to get those shots in. Hopefully we can push the number of entries up too with more time for people :thumbs:

Thats me out then I dont do sport, I dislike any kind of sport, good luck to all that enter though :thumbs:

so you are NOT out then are you - you have already thought outside the usual box!!! :p Oh, and for a man that likes photographing aircraft, how you can't somehow translate that into sport is..... :cuckoo: ;) Think about it before declaring you can't do it, not all sport is 22 sweaty men and a bag of wind :thumbs:


edit: it was your plane pic i was looking at the other week wasnt it?
 
Arghhh!!! Sport? I don't think i have ever taken a sport photo before... i really can't think of one! Sooo count me in, one of the things i love about photography is trying stuff that i'd never normally think of getting involved with...like sport! yuk!
 
True Yvonne I must admit I didnt really read your full post, all I saw was Sport , I think on reflection, and have now read the post properly, :bang: I will have a try, but its not going to be easy as I say I dont know anything about sport, except for the main types, as for rules and how these played no idea, as you say its out of our comfort zone and that is the idea of these challenges. so a good choice really, I think :lol:

Thats the spirit Anna :clap:

I really would like people to think about this and do something they wouldnt normally do, hence the longer time will help, but like I say, think about what a broad range of subjects even the traditional definition of sport covers [everything from sailing dinghy on the local resevoir to darts down the pub], before you have even started thinking wider or more laterally.

and sorry, I get confused with members sometimes, but I just looked at your gallery here and already see shots that you aren't looking at with this theme in mind ;)
 
Hmm... I'm glad I read through the posts on here, at the word sport, I started thinking people... I don't shoot people, and I don't shoot sport, although I have shot some motor sport. This is one wide open theme... Must remember to actually get a shot or three for it though :bang:
 
The nearest I have done to sport was taking shots of my son in a single seater race car last week at Donington Park Race Track Clicky Linky Not really sport thought just shots of my son really

And no Yv, it's not all about 22 sweaty men running after a bag of wind - sometimes it's 30 ;););) :lol:

That IS sport!! If I told you I could take 3 totally different shots, right now, without even going into the garden, never mind the big wide world, would it make you feel better? Oh and no, we dont have one of those houses full of gym equipment and tracksuits, sport in this house is a 37" widescreen, remote control and bottle of beer :whistling:

:lol: Well I just looked round my living room dining room and garden and cant see anything obvious so it gonna have to right outside the box for me to enter :D but now Im determined to have a go, oh wait theres 2 sparrows fighting over the feeder so I suppose it could be a kind of sport in a way, Boxing or wrestling,
 
Mmm just had another look around and read some definitions of sports, not as daunting as I thought, well done Yvonne, for getting us thinking, it has worked :thumbs: and things shouldnt be dismissed as "Its not my thing"
 
Hmmmm, I've got one shot hanging up behind me, another in a bag next to me, several in the kids lego boxes :D... And bound to be loads of others if I go rooting around in the various toy chests, loft and garage...

Why cant we post them now after all we have took our images, mind you Im glad at the extra few days as its challenging to to come up with something, as of now I have one image

I decided when I was going away on holiday, I asked John at very short notice to stand in for me, I set the challenge Abstract Theme and John kindly judged it for me, to keep the challenge weekly basis,as was going to post my image today as I thought last day, and realized the change :bang: 4 more days to think of something

It was one of the rules when the challenge was started to allow uninfluenced images to be taken, if two similar images are then posted the likelyhood is that they were both thought of individually.

As for the time period, it was never deemed to be a week, it seemed to head that way although as far as I remember the first and second themes ran for longer than a week by a couple of days. The challenge is for the days ahead, not necessarily a weekly challenge although if the theme setter thinks it can be done in a week then that is fine.

If we want to change how things are done, perhaps we should have a discussion on it, although it seems to me to be working okay as it is.
 
Thanks Ed, I didnt disagree with the time period extended, Im pleased weve got more time, I just assumed it was a weekly thats why I asked John to do my theme judging when I went on holiday to Cuba, as I went for 2 weeks so that might have been a bit to long, for people to wait,it does work as it is, so thats OK then by me, leave it like it is.
 
Arse - I didn't take my camera to rugby on Saturday (and first time husband scored this season too - missed that as well as I was at the bar) and we haven't got a game this weekend.

1st post on the forum an new to photography but defo count me in, this becomes an illnes i ant stop buyin stuff! haha
