Im wondering if anyone has any experience of different 100mm nd filters? I was considering the kood Z , cokin Z and hitech 100mm.

I don't have the money to go for lee filters but I feel I need to upgrade from 85mm filters.

I have gone through a set of Cokin 85mm filters, then Hitech and finally settled on Lee.

Hitechs were good, although I did find that they add a slight cast to the image (which is tough to solve when you are colour blind). There reverse grad filters are genius though.

Do bear in mind you don't need every filter going, if I am using my 5D3 I could get most shots with a 2 and 3 stop hard edge for example.

Im aware of this but I do require a 2 and 3 stop grad and a 3or4 stop solid nd. Shooting 10mm the 85mm filters just arent big enough

I use Cokin Z pro ones and they are OK on my 5D2 and 17-40@17mm with no vignetting as long as I take one of the spacers off of the holder. I have had issues with reflections of the adapter ring branding shooting directly into the sun though. They have served me well but I intend to migrate to the Lee system eventually.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems the newer hitech filters have a worse cast than older filters of the same brand.
Every review I've read has said the latest generation of Formatt Hitech's filters, sold under the Firecrest label, have set the new bar for ND-without-cast and are "Better than Lee".

Has anyone tried ZOMEI? Seems a China made cheaper version. It won't be as good quality but I wonder how much different? Thanks. Art
