1.4x converter for my set up

I have my trusty canon 1000d and a sigma 170-500 lens but am considering a 1.4 converter but having had a 2x previously which stopped too much light and had meant i ended up with no autofocus (not on this lens by the way) i`m looking for one that will allow me to still autofocus , can anyone recomend one please,many thanks Harvey

Sigma 170-500 F5-6.3

You will lose AF at the long end which is probably where you will be using it. That would apply to all 1.4/5 or 2x TCs.

I'm afraid that f5.6 is the limit for autofocus on cameras below the 1d series, so no TC is going to work. Manual is not that difficult I have both 1.4 and 2X for use on my Sigma 150-500.
