£20 Continuous Ink Systems any good?

I got the Cityink one - yeah, its not bad and the inks tend to last me about a year at the moment before I need to buy new refill bottles:-)

Might be worth you getting a waste ink tank to take all the waste ink from when you purge it though

I used a £20 CISS system when I had an Epson photo R200 and then an R220. To begin with it worked very well. Decent quality prints and so easy to top up the ink. After a year or so the first R200 had a service error which stopped the printer from working (there is a hack that can clear this error) so I binned it and bought another R200 which never got on with the CISS and was replaced with an R220 and a different CISS which worked well for a few months then it kept getting air bubbles in the ink pipes. The company replaced the cartridges but in the end I was wasting too much paper and ink and time so the lot went in the skip and I've only used cartridges since.

Ink quality varies and I've a couple of friends who used quality CISS with A3 printers and had no better success then I had. The print quality was better than my £20 system but the reliability was much the same.

When it worked it was excellent but when it didn't it wasn't! I had to spend so much time cleaning the print heads that the savings weren't worth it. That (and an Epson PX710W) put me right off Epson printers. They're the spawn of Satan.

I have a CISS system for epson and funnily enough just purchased a new one today. I love it, but only use it for general printing.
