New camera and lenses to consider (plus stabilisation?)

Hi all, I’m new to the site and new to the world of photography, so please go easy on me! I currently have an old Canon 400D an 18-55mm kit lens. Over the summer I was lucky enough to loan a Canon 5D with a 24-70mm lens which was amazing (and also an insight into the weight of a good lens!)...
