Hello all... Can't see this really covered anywhere else...

Does anyone currently have a decent set-up for transferring from VHS-C tapes to a PC? I used to have an HP Pavillion PC and had bought one of those devices with software from eBay, but after that PCs demise, I haven't been able to use my Acer desktop or Mac to continue copying.

Anyone have a decent solution? I'm feeling very non-techy just now.

Try a search on Amazon for VHS - USB converter. Prices seem to range from £10 to £150.

IF it's an OS compatibility problem with a newer PC, might an older OS emulator sidestep the problem and allow the use of the old hardware?

I have a top-notch setup for capturing video digitall.

VTR ->ForA Time Base Corrector -> Folsom Scaler-> Black Magic capture device (it's a Thunderbolt device, so I use a Mac Mini)
My (S)VHS, BetaCam SP and Umatic are all pro level studio edit decks, only my Betamax is domestic.

But I don't have a VHS-C deck or adaptor.

I borrowed an old VHS/DVD twin deck off a family member who had it gathering dust in his loft. You might find one on ebay or similar. Results weren't anything to write home about but then nor was the original VHS.

I purchased a good quality Video to DVD recorder off ebay which handle the quality well.
I then copied the DVD onto my PC, edited in Magix.
You can also purchase the full size Video tape to take various other cassette tapes.
All good.
