Regarding the e-PL6, it wasn't so much that the item was an import but moreso that it was a model sold only in Asia so it's not an item we trade-in. For your e-PL7, as long as it's the item as described above, and not the "lite" model, this will be absolutely fine
A quick sanity check please, I was trying to sell my e-PL7 to wex, but after they refused my e-PL6 as it wasn't a model sold in the UK , I wanted to clarify before sending off this time. The response:
Does the above make any sense regarding the e-PL range of cameras? My, and all e-PL7s i've seen in reviews, wex used listings and elsewhere say Pen Lite on the top, and the PL part signifies that. To be sure, they do list the e-PL7 model as an option to sell, though only in black.

I always shoot raw, so this is simply a conversion in LRLovely and not too dissimilar to my almost pocketable Om5.2 and 17 mm F1.8 II
I just wish the standard B&W was like the L monochrome D on the lumix
Likewise (well R+JPEG) but I do miss the L.monochrome from my old Gx9I always shoot raw, so this is simply a conversion in LR
Are you sure it’s dirt on the sensor as it could be what happened to mine. Some form of mark under the glass on the sensor. Also a lot of posts about this onlineI've just noticed that my OM-1 has what looks like part of a finger print on the sensor - no idea how that's happened as I'm pretty anal about exposed sensors?
In any case, has anyone actually ever tried cleaning a micro four thirds sensor, and is it easy or quite difficult due to the small sensor size ? Or, alternatively anyone ever had their OM-1 serviced by OMDS and has an idea how much it costs ? It's under warranty still until next year but I highly doubt sensor cleans are covered under warranty ?
.... I had my sensor cleaned as part of a service by OMDS in Portugal on my OM-1 'mk1' under warranty. But I do have PRO Service status with them so I don't know if that makes any difference.I've just noticed that my OM-1 has what looks like part of a finger print on the sensor - no idea how that's happened as I'm pretty anal about exposed sensors?

.... Indeed it is. And then after their receipt and assessment of your camera's issue they will decide whether it can be put right under warranty or whether there may be costs incurred following your approval of those costs.Yeah I agree to if it’s in warranty it’s free pick up and return
Are you using an ad blocker or vpn that suppresses pop ups? Just a thought.
I wonder if there is a dodgy batch of sensors liked to serial numbers. These marks are becoming quite apparent on the OM1, fair few people seem affected by them.
Its about time OM accepted there is a problem and offered a fix whether covered by warranty or not.
I agree that there could well be a dodgy batch of sensors, its definitely more than just a few isolated cases.I wonder if there is a dodgy batch of sensors liked to serial numbers.
I maintain that mine was examined by Wex who tried to clean it and called me, sat me down in the Birmingham branch and explained to me, it was not dirt. They suggested I sent it off to OM for warranty repair.
OM Systems paperwork that came with the returned camera simply stated and I quote we have cleaned the sensor, which I know is not true. In my opinion they have changed it but don't want to admit it.
I read a lot online and it's an issue with some sensors but not others. Hence I think they have a dodgy batch. My older OM1 with different serial number is spotless.
Not sure about degrading with age.I agree that there could well be a dodgy batch of sensors, its definitely more than just a few isolated cases.
Another explanation could be that they are degrading with age, not heard it mentioned (yet) about the Mk2.
Whatever the reason its about time OM accepts that a problem does exist and reassures owners it will be fixed FOC
Just to add to the above.Well I've just had to contact OM Systems over the phone (a pretty painless operation), as the repair request process via the website is definitely down at the moment.
As I have the Pro Service Advanced warranty package in place, they have said they will send me a priority returns label and my repair will be expressed though their system. They even asked me if I needed a loaner camera during this time (which I politely declined). Let's see how this plays out.
As per a PM received from Adam above, I'm going to take photos of the body before I send it back as Adam discovered a scratch on his when it was returned which took a second trip back to OM Systems to resolve (thankfully FOC). They have asked me to send just the body, (no battery & no hotshoe cover) with a just body cap.
.... I know that you definitely cannot ~ I checked with OMDS because I wanted to do it when I moved from OM-1 'mk1' to mk2.Just a random question. Does anyone know if you have saved your settings from an OM-1 (original version), into the O.I. Share app, can these be applied to a potential new OM1 MK II or do the MK1 & II versions not share the same set of settings ?
.... Yes, ALL my camera equipment is included in my Bank's Home Insurance Contents policy and covers me worldwide. Each item over the value of £2,500 is individually listed. I have had this insurance for many years and had absolutely no delays or problems when claiming. It's not cheap but absolutely worth it for my peace of mind.Does anyone pay for camera equipment insurance if so which company? Mine has just gone up 20 quid so need to look elsewhere
Ok, to their credit they got back in touch with me to clarify that it was a mistake on their part and some crossed wires between staff. The asia model issue only applied to the e-PL6 I had, not the e-PL7.
that's the original MKi lens Jeremy . the much improved MKii version has been out for over a year and is available on the grey market for as little as £740 new .. in fact its that good I sold my 300mm f4 as no longer neededI see that OMDS currently have the 100-400 zoom on offer at £799. That's a great price for anyone wanting one, but I wonder if a v2 is in the offing?
Ah! thanks for clearing that up! I'm a bit behind on the lens front.....that's the original MKi lens Jeremy . the much improved MKii version has been out for over a year and is available on the grey market for as little as £740 new .. in fact its that good I sold my 300mm f4 as no longer needed
Well, I've never shot a video in my life, but I have the 8-25 and it's a great lens. A couple of benefits which may or may not be relevant to you is that a) it has a filter thread (72mm) and b) it has a focus clutch to put the lens into manual focus without touching the camera's settings.Quick question please, for about 8 years now I've used the Panasonic Lecia DG Vario Elmarit 8-18mm F2.8-4 lens as my super wide on my Olympus system. It's a nice and sharp copy, and has always served me well.
As it's my only non Olympus lens, I've recently been thinking about perhaps swapping it out for the Olympus 8-25mm F4 Pro. Now the obvious advantage is the extend focal length (50mm equivalent vs 36mm of the Lecia), making it potentially a good walk about lens. Downsides are a) it's constant F4, whereas at the wide end the Leica is a F2.8 b) It's an extending zoom, whereas whilst the Lecia is also really an extending zoom also, it only extends inside the confines of the lens barrel itself and so doesn't change the length of the lens at all and c) potentially the better weather sealing of Olympus lenses (although I've used the Leica in light rain with no issues).
However my main question is does the IBIS work better at the wide end on Olympus bodies rather than Panasonic lenses ? It might just be trait of Olympus / OMS bodies, but I've always found when shooting videos on the OM-1 at the widest setting (so 8mm or 16mm FF), that when walking, I tend to get a lot of wobbling (jello) at the edges of the frame. I've tried all combinations i.e. just IS or IS + Digital as well as adjusting the IBIS strength in the menus from -1 through to +1 with no apparent real effect. I therefore always wondered if this was more to do with the lens than the body, and if an Olympus / OMS lens would work better with the IBIS in that regards ?
Anyone with these lenses that can give any real world experiences please ?
