Ok, here's my shot for week 2 - 'New'.
I was in New York on Monday and Tuesday, so decided to take the theme in that direction. I only had my 50mm lens with me, and here's what I learnt!
1. It's very difficult to get great shots when it is VERY cold! Shivering body and icy fingers aren't...
I really like the hermit crab! My brother used to keep them. I think it would be nice if he was slightly less central, maybe on the right looking into space.
The graffiti capture is also a good one. Great composition!
Well done, I like the sky, and the reflection of the sun in the water. Not yet tried any HDR stuff, so I might do that as part of this 52 challenge! Great start I think!
Great idea, I like it. The only thing that bothers me is that my eye gets drawn to the inside of the house behind, with the stuff on the upstairs bedroom wall!
I wonder if a cheap five pound remote trigger would have made this easier...I only wonder because I ordered one this week and it hasn't...
Fantastic subject. I do think the roadworks lessen the impact of the contrast between the homes and the tank. Perhaps when they are finished you can work the location into a future theme too, although that does only give them a year to finish their work, which might be pushing it over here ;)
I've just spent 30 minutes re-finding this thread to comment! I love the definition in the brickwork. Nice shot, looks like it could have been taken 50 years ago!
Great shot. It reminds me of the posters you used to see in Athena, with some sort of moral/comedic message underneath! Did you shoot in RAW? At least that gives you a bit more scope for improving after the event, I think. Good capture, looking forward to seeing more.
Good fun. Seeing as though it can be moved (a mobile home?!) it might look better sitting on a different base...something to contrast the bright colours a bit more. I'm not sure the wood works so well.
Extra creativity marks for the build though!
It is the full version, for £44. I've just downloaded it. I wasn't going to bother before, and just stick with iPhoto, but for that price, I figure it is worth the effort.
