    Must get this 5g protection

i simply added to the discussion and refrained from getting into details that I didn't think would be wanted. Nothing is out of context at all, it's just my thoughts. It's a forum. This sort of response is exactly why I rarely use these forums, as I can't seem to write anything without criticism.

    Must get this 5g protection

My goodness, I'll be buying 10 of them just to be sure. The trouble is that, like with all these things, there is an element of truth to radio waves being harmful. I did say just an "element" of truth. Microwaves, for example, and other high-energy transmitters, IF you're at extremely close...

    Unexpected AF Issue - Nikon

That's because the AF works before pressing the shutter, when the aperture is fully open. The aperture only adjusts to whatever you've set it to once you press the shutter. With a long lens and TC fitted, the aperture could easily be down to f6.3 or smaller "wide" open, hence possibly giving...

    sensor dust

I agree with much of that. I agree there is no need to fear cleaning the sensor for most people, and as an Engineer it's never scared me. With steady hands and common-sense, it's not difficult. I do honestly struggle to accept that you manage to get a completely clean sensor, as my own...

    sensor dust

If you set to the smallest aperture (I use a macro lens that goes to f32 or something crazy like that!) and manually set focus to closest distance, then point at blue sky, then look at the image you'll fall off your chair. It's actually quite horrible to see just how dusty the sensor gets when...

    So you sell your photos

They go for anything from $1 (it's all done in US$) up to around $200. I read the occasional report of higher fees but it's extremely rare, and to be fair it's also rare to see one as low as $1. The price is negotiated by the sales staff at Alamy. They do have a fixed price for differing uses...

    Unexpected AF Issue - Nikon

I think the OP is trying to setup the lens with TC in order to fine-tune focus of both together, but the camera won't lock focus correctly. Hence my suggestion of heat haze being a possible reason. That's how I read it anyway, but I may have misunderstood.

    So you sell your photos

I license images through Alamy. I'm absolutely not recommending them for many reasons, and wouldn't recommend stock at all if you want to make money. It's pocket-money for me and I do quite well compared to most with a similar number of images. Anything and everything sells on any subject, from...

    Unexpected AF Issue - Nikon

Go for a 150-600mm if you can. Since buying mine about 4 years ago I've used it for so many things, and got some fantastic shots that I could never have got before. Anyway, to your issue. It could be that the TC is interfering with the AF in ways I could only guess at, but I wonder if it might...

Are we going to move to greener transport

The buses I referred to will stop for literally seconds, often 5s or less at many stops. I don't see how emissions are reduced by that, when more fuel is used. Also there's the battery use every time, where it takes over 100 amps to re-start, so the battery needs that charge replenished. We're...

Auto Focus versus Manual with 500mm or 600mm lenses?

You're welcome Russ. I had forgotten to mention needing the dock in order to do micro focus adjustments. However, when I last re-adjustment all my lenses I remembered what a pain it was with the Sigma 150-600mm, so I didn't bother. With such a relatively wide aperture (less critical focus) and...

Are we going to move to greener transport

A couple of years ago my local bus company bought a load of "greener" buses. I assumed they'd at least be hybrid, like another local company already had. Well no, they just had "cleaner" diesel engines. What happens is that every single time the bus stops, the engine automatically cuts out, then...
