Recommendations for a new carbon fibre tripod please?

Very happy with my Manfrotto O55.. Walked around Wex with a carbon in one hand, and an aluminium one in the other (both had matching Manfrotto ball heads on). Couldn’t detect any noticeable weight difference - so went aluminium. Had it for 5 years, now. No problems

Changing the film speed to help nail the correct exposure.

What Terry said is right, of course - there is no way to control the shutter speed directly. I think what you’re trying to achieve is exposure compensation. However, there is no direct compensation control. What you need to do is to fool the metering system by changing the film speed. For...

    Telephoto Lens Upgrade!

I have the 180-600 and find it very good with my z9. I still have a 300 f/2.8 VRii which is outstanding, even with a 1.4TC. I can’t bring myself to sell it BUT I find I hardly use it as the zoom offers much more flexibility for wildlife and motorsports. IQ is, of course, inferior but I’m...

    NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S - filter question

Are you sure it’s empty? My 300 f/2.8 has a plain glass screw in filter as standard (52mm) to ensure tahat the optical path is unchanged when you use a filter. FWIW I use an inexpensive Kood ND filter which, I think, I may have bought from SRB. I’ve just checked and it doesn’t appear to be...

Witch lens for the Nikon D750 ?

The Sigma 120-300 is excellent optically BUT heavy and unwieldy for hand holding for event photography. Fine in a hide where you can rest it on a window sill or support it on a tripod/gimbal.

Why no discussion on the merits of PHEVs? Electric range is adequate for the daily mileage of an “average” user. Plug into a domestic 13a socket for a few hours, and go again. On the occasion you need a long journey you can set off comfortable in the knowledge that you’ll get there and back...
