    Shooting fire performers, advice needed

As I understand it, Phil, yes. At least if you wanted the fire trails to look like they're going the right way. Nice shot, Rob :)

24-70L vs 24-105L image quality difference

I'm looking at renting one of these lenses for an upcoming festival :D *watches thread*

    Shooting fire performers, advice needed

Heh, yeah that's an option. Whenever I've done that though it's never quite worked how I've intended. Plus I always think fire shots look better when lit just by fire, otherwise the colour balance gets interesting. Plus I'll be at a festival, and I doubt I'll be able to take my flash any further...

    Shooting fire performers, advice needed

Mmmm, yes indeed. It's a fight between not allowing the fire to get blown out, and retaining a little of the background. That's a *lovely* shot there, but for the most part I'd want a little more background. Of course usually I'd practice, practice, practice, but this sort of opportunity...

    Shooting fire performers, advice needed

Morning all. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience shooting fire performers; poi, whips, staff, hoops etc? I've done some stuff before, but any good results have been more chance than design. I'm shooting at a festival this weekend, and there'll be some fire workers there who I really...

Aye, that's what I've done now as well. It's not exactly OHMYGODTHISISATERRIBLEPROBLEM!!! Just an oddity :)

Lightroom 3 watermarking - font problem

Morning TPers. A bit of a :bang: came up last night while I was playing around with the new LR3 watermarking tools. You can select a text watermark, define it's placing, colour, transparency etc, and most crucially, font. Now I use a lovely font called 'Diavolo' for my photography stuff, but...

    lightroom vs photoshop

Yeah it is, not sure if it used to be... Anyway, consider this another vote for Lightroom.

Anyone ever purchased Student Edition of Software

I've just purchased the education version of Lightroom 3 via the Adobe website. Jumping the hoops wasn't too bad, although they could have been a little clearer on the info they needed. I had to scan my ID card, then my payslip, then the *other* side of my payslip (I'm University staff, so still...

Do you find as a photographer people sometimes take advantage?

This has been an interesting thread. I'm glad someone bought up IT, because I'm a techy, and I get asked to fix stuff as much as I do photo stuff. I tend to do a lot of stuff for free, and I've usually ended up getting something in return, one way or another. Maybe I just manage to pick the...

    Shooting nudes. Anyone done it?

I've never managed to wear sunglasses while taking photos, but then I've never found myself inadvertently staring at ladyparts either. My advice: Let her take the lead beforehand, establish what she wants so you have a clear idea in your head of where to lead the shoot. Then take the lead and...
