If you like landscapes have you had a look at the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5? It's far too wide to be a replacement for your kit lens but it is a cracking lens.

I actually had to run upstairs and grab my camera to answer this! Found some chocolate on the way down so it's all good. Left eye (and squashed nose), not sure why but it feels very strange using my right eye. Totally agree about the make-up on the LCD, that's a bit of a pain!
