If you can afford both (35mm 1.8 and a used D7000) you would gain a lot in terms of low light usability. Either one will help but together they will really outshine your current setup.

HoppyUK hit the nail on the head for me - its the sales of lower end DX models that keep Nikon etc. afloat. For every D750 sold there are many many more D3200 sold. If Nikon and Canon go exclusively full frame they will go out of business very quickly as the consumer masses switch to Sony, Fuji etc

What about the used market? You could likely get a decent SB-600 for reasonable money. Or look at the Yongnuo (568 is TTL I think) - they get favourable reviews.

I'm sorry but that isn't really helpful in any way. Out of date is a subjective thing, primes suit my interests perfectly, weight is of little concern and a tripod is almost essential for landscape and lighting work. If you have nothing constructive to add I would rather you didn't add anything.
